Give pre-Thanksgiving thanks with your collegial media associates this Thursday, Nov. 19, on the reserved patio at the crazy-fun Lazy Dog Café in Orange.
We’ll provide some munchies and our usual bonhomie.

I'm both a Writer and a PR/marketing person and I understand the marketing challenges and expenses involved. I would suggest checking out IWOSC--Independent Writers of Southern California--for advice & workshops on marketing it yourself. IWOSC has...
Name (First and last would be great, nickname if you must):
Kimberly Porrazzo
Your media affiliation:
Past president of the OC Press Club (2006-2007). Currently Chief Content Officer at Churm Media, overseeing the print and web content for the company. Former editor, OC METRO Business Magazine. Also a two-time contributor to the best-selling "Chicken Soup for the Soul" series and author of "The Santa Secret: The truth about Santa Claus."
Best media moment:
Sitting next to Angels owner Arte Moreno, watching a baseball game, while interviewing him for a cover story for OC METRO Business Magazine. Second to that is interviewing Martha Stewart. On the flip side of this, I was interviewed by Katie Couric on NBC's Today Show.
Worst media moment:
Reporting Maria Shriver's father, Sargent Shriver, as the "late" Sargent Shriver. Apparently I misunderstood Maria as she was speaking to a large group. She had actually referred to him as the "great" Sargent Shriver!
Journalist you most respect, and why:
Erma Bombeck. True. Funny. Real. And I'll miss Tim Russert. Also, very authentic.
Favorite publication, website, or blog:
Fortune Small Business, mediabistro.com
Advice you'd give to a college journalism student:
Plastics.
Current project:
The great American novel.
My latest project: "The Santa Secret"
I published "The Santa Secret: The truth about Santa Claus" with Lulu.com. Great publishing house; you can print one book at a time, and there is no upfront cost. Link to my page on lulu.com to see the inside of the book and how lulu works.
It's called "Making or Breaking News: The State of the News Business 2009." Harvey Levin of TMZ.com is our keynote speaker. He will most likely talk about the events surrounding Michael Jackson's death and how TMZ broke the story. I hope you can make it. Take care.
Hi Kimberly!
Please look at my page and tell me if it's appropriate for this group. I also started a group re: PR because several reporters, over the years, have asked me how to make a transition.
I appreciate your advice.
Regards,
Diane
